15-year-old kills janitor as second school attack rocks Poland in two days

A 37-year-old school janitor has died after a 15-year-old former pupil went on a knifing spree at a primary school northeast of Warsaw on Thursday morning, just a day after a machete attack at another Polish school left nine people injured.

The 15-year-old entered the John Paul II Primary School in Leszczydół-Nowiny, near the town of Wyszków, and attacked three people, including the school’s director, police spokeswoman Katarzyna Kucharska told media.

The director reportedly overpowered the attacker before police detained him. Polish media reported that the other victims were a teacher and a janitor.

Announcing the death of the janitor, police said: “Despite resuscitation, it was not possible to save the life of a 37-year-old school employee.”

This was the second attack on a Polish school in two days.

In the city of Ostrołęka an hour north of Wyszków, a 19-year-old student attacked people with a machete at a vocational school on Wednesday.
