Warsaw police detain student over knife rampage threat

Polish police have detained a 19-year-old student at a private university in Warsaw who allegedly threatened to carry out a knife attack during classes amid a wave of school violence in Poland.

The young woman posted disturbing messages on a student group chat, including claims that she belonged to a “knifers’ club” and had been tasked with killing seven people during classes, Polish private broadcaster Radio ZET reported on Friday.

Concerned by the messages, three members of the group notified police.

Officers went to the woman’s apartment in Warsaw’s Ochota district, detained her and searched the premises.

The woman was charged with making criminal threats against three people. Police placed her under supervision and imposed a restraining order prohibiting her from approaching the alleged victims.
