22-year-old man sentenced to 35 years for 2017 DC murder, alleged gang involvement.
WASHINGTON — A 22-year-old man was sentenced to 35 years in prison on Thursday for his role in a 2017 D.C. murder and participation in a criminal street gang.
On September 10, 2017, Saquon Williams, who was 16 years old at the time, was with a small group of people who opened fire on a crowded courtyard in the Potomac Gardens neighborhood of Southeast.
24-year-old Carl Hardy was among those in the courtyard and was struck by a bullet. After firing over 30 rounds, the group including Williams fled the scene, officials said.
Hardy was rushed to the hospital for treatment but ultimately succumbed to his injuries roughly a month later on October 1.
