New Haven man made bomb threats to Police Department, courthouse, Federal Building, officials say
A New Haven man is facing charges after police say he called in bomb threats to the Police Department, federal building and federal courthouse.
Police Sgt. Cherelle Carr said in a news release Thursday that the Police Department received a call at 11:28 a.m. for a bomb threat to police headquarters on Union Avenue, the Federal Building on Court Street and the Richard C. Lee U.S. Courthouse on Church Street. She said dispatch informed officers an unknown person had called saying there was a bomb somewhere in the station and under the courthouse.
Carr said all three buildings were evacuated and the Hazardous Device Unit responded and conducted sweeps at the locations. Nothing was found, she said.
