Baltimore rapper YGG Tay sentenced to 25 years in federal prison on conspiracy charges
Baltimore rapper YGG Tay, whose real name is Davante Harrison, was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to allegedly paying $10,000 to a member of the Black Guerilla Family to kill a man.
Harrison, 29, of Baltimore, was charged with one count of racketeering conspiracy by the U.S. District Court of Maryland for his role with the gang to sell heroin and cocaine in Baltimore City.
Harrison was previously sentenced to 15 years on drug and gun charges in November 2021. His most recent sentence will run at the same time as the former.
In his previous trial, prosecutors framed Harrison as a calculated high-level dealer who was careful about his movements and slipped up in November 2019 when agents went to serve a search warrant on him and found drugs and a Glock handgun with an extended magazine.
His defense attorneys told jurors that while he was caught with a gun and drugs, there was no evidence that he was part of a distribution conspiracy.
In the most recent case, Harrison admitted to being involved with BGF between 2014 and 2016 to sell heroin and cocaine to a street-level drug shop in Baltimore City, according to online court records.
On June 28, 2014, Harrison paid a BGF member $10,000 and gave him a gun to kill Terrell Jarrett as Jarrett owed him money for drugs he supplied on consignment, according to the plea agreement.
Harrison also admitted that he had the gun and intended to sell the drugs found in the November 2019 search and that he worked with BGF in 2018 to target rivals, according to the agreement.
Harrison’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
