Suspect vehicle sought in Portland, Vancouver ballot box arson cases

Authorities are searching for a suspect vehicle possibly connected to a ballot box arson case in Southeast Portland early Monday morning, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

The Portland arson was the first of two burned ballot boxes on the same day, with the other happening a short while later across the river in Vancouver.

“The vehicle is described as a black or dark-colored 2001-2004 Volvo S-60,” PPB said. “The vehicle does not have a front license plate, but it does have an unknown rear plate.”

Investigators believe the vehicle is tied to two similar incidents in the Vancouver area. Officials say the incidents are “very similar” in a press conference Monday afternoon.
