New Orleans police arrest 5 students in connection with citywide threats investigation

The New Orleans Police Department has arrested two more students connected to citywide school threats, bringing the total to five.

The identity of anyone allegedly involved in the threats has not been released.

According to NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, those arrested were between the ages of 11 and 16 years old.

Police issued a statement Saturday after a social media account posted the names, ages and photos of minors allegedly involved in a criminal investigation.

The social media account said the photos are of students involved in the citywide school threats.

The NOPD has released a new statement clarifying that while the post may not violate Louisiana law, it does raise concerns about misinformation.

It continued to say that the social media post is not affiliated with the NOPD and that the information has not been verified by the department.
