Man arrested in Myrtle Beach for ‘hate-based threats’ sent to NY reporter, official says
On Friday morning, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested a man in Myrtle Beach for allegedly threatening to kill a New York reporter.
According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District of New York, Austin Suman was arrested for making a series of “violent and hate-based threats to a news reporter, threatening to kill her and her family, as well as blow up her house.”
Suman reportedly sent the messages via Facebook and email to the reporter based in Orange County, New York. The release said his threats appeared to be motivated by an article the reporter wrote several years ago, which related to Suman’s arrest for threatening a former roommate with a firearm, resulting in his guns being taken away.
