Rancher reportedly killed by cartel-made improvised explosive near southern border

A ranch owner has reportedly been killed by an Improvised Explosive Device near the southern border.

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) sent out a warning Tuesday after a Texas rancher was killed by an improvised explosive device near Brownsville.

The TDA is urging farmers and ranchers who travel to Mexico or operate near the border to be extremely cautious of explosive devices, or anything that could be an explosive.

The agency said in a statement that land owners or workers should ‘refrain from touching unfamiliar objects that could be explosive devices, limit travel to daylight hours, stay on main roads, and avoid cartel-controlled regions.
