Court documents released on a Fort Carson Soldier accused of stealing an explosive device

An active duty Fort Carson soldier, 41-year-old Joshua King, is being accused of stealing C4 off the post.

According to court documents, the explosive was found when the soldier’s ex-wife was cleaning at her residence. She claims she discovered it on top of a dresser inside the garage when going to collect a knife collection. King’s former spouse then reported it to the authorities.

In an interview with the FBI and the US Criminal Investigation Division(CID), the ex-wife claims King had brought the device home and would hide the device in various spots for their dog to find. Their dog was formerly an explosive detection canine given to them by the ex-wife’s father who was a special agent.

In a separate domestic violence investigation on King by CID, they interviewed his ex-girlfriend. She told authorities that King had shown her a picture of the C4 device, saying he stole it from the army.
