An MS-13 gang leader has pleaded guilty in New York to nine murders between 2016 and 2017, including the disappearance and death of Annapolis teenager David Rivera. At least two other alleged members have also been indicted in the killing.
Described as a regional leader of MS-13’s “Hollywood” clique, David Sosa-Guevara was convicted of racketeering in January for his part in the murder spree, which began in April 2016 and ended with Rivera’s death in August 2017.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, which announced the plea in a news release, Rivera’s was the only murder to take place outside of Long Island.
The crime, federal prosecutors said, happened after Sosa-Guevara slipped into Maryland “to avoid law enforcement.” According to the release, Sosa-Guevara learned of a plot to kill the 16-year-old and directed another member of his Long Island clique to participate.
