DOJ considers new charges for Zizian, does not oppose filing extension
Attorneys for the woman Border Patrol says shot and killed Agent David “Chris” Maland in January are requesting an additional time to review evidence filed by the government which could result in new charges.
Teresa Youngblut, 21, was indicted on one count of use of a deadly weapon against an officer of the United States and an additional count of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.
Youngblut and Felix Bauckholt, aGerman national, were stopped by Maland and other U.S. Border Patrol agents on Jan. 20, 2025 in Coventry, Vermont. Youngblut allegedly opened fire, resulting in a shootout that left Maland and Bauckholt dead and Youngblut injured.
Youngblut and Bauckholt had ties to the internet cult the Zizians, who are linked to multiple other homicides in Pennsylvania and California.
