Modesto man charged for firearms and explosives found near middle school

A man was arrested in Modesto on Oct. 20 by the Modesto Police Department for multiple charges, including two counts of possessing explosive devices near a pubic school.

The Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team and the Stanislaus County Probation Department served a search warrant on the 1000 block of Floyd Avenue, located across the street from Somerset Middle School.

Investigators seized multiple loaded firearms, ammunition, and two explosive devices during the operation. One of the recovered firearms investigators discovered a fully automatic Uzi-style machine gun equipped with a silencer.

The suspect was identified as Joshua Reyes, 49, MPD said. He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on $1,000,000 bail.
