Man pleads guilty to hiding explosives in bag at Lehigh Valley airport

A Carbon County man pleaded guilty Wednesday to hiding an explosive device in a checked bag last year at Lehigh Valley International Airport, according to federal court records.

Marc Muffley, 41, pleaded guilty in federal court to charges of attempting to place an explosive on an aircraft and possession of an explosive in an airport, records state.

Muffley, of Lansford, was arrested days after the incident in late February.

The U.S. attorney’s office said he was trying to take an Allegiant flight to Orlando Sanford International Airport in Florida on Feb. 27 when Transportation Security Administration officials found a circular device with granular powder wrapped in plastic wrap in a bag he had checked.
