Albany man suspected of planting explosive devices on city streets

A 16-month investigation led Albany police to a suspect in a series of roadway explosions.

Ezekiel Joseph Brown, 46, is accused of making and using improvised explosive devices, allegedly planting five IEDs on city streets between summer 2021 and winter 2022 in Albany.

The devices were reportedly crafted out of and concealed by everyday items, such as cardboard, cups and tape.

The first IED detonated when an Albany police cruiser ran over it, causing $1,000 or more in damage, according to court documents.
