3 adults, 3 teens charged in connection to arson fire at Virginia Task Force 1 training facility
Six suspects have been charged after allegedly setting a fire at a Virginia Task Force 1 Training Facility in Lorton over the summer.
According to police, the incident happened at the facility on Furnace Road around 5:20 p.m. on June 27.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were called to the 9000 block of Furnace Road in Lorton for a reported fire at a storage facility containing heavy equipment.
Crews arrived and found the facility fully engulfed in flames. No injuries were reported, but the blaze caused an estimated $1 million to $1.3 million in damage.
The Fairfax County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center reviewed surveillance footage from the property and saw several individuals enter the facility before the fire and flee the area after it began.
Video of the incident was released to the public, generating several tips. Information provided by the community, along with Flock license plate reader technology, helped detectives identify a vehicle connected to the case and develop additional leads.
