4 law enforcement officers killed, 4 injured in Charlotte shooting
Three law enforcement officers serving on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and one Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officer were killed Monday after being met with “active gunfire” from a suspect inside an east Charlotte home. A total of eight law enforcement officers were shot, including three CMPD officers and one officer from the task force who were injured.
The officers were serving together on a U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force when they were shot while confronting a suspect inside a home on Galway Drive. The officers were rushed to the hospital, but four died as a result of their injuries.
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction confirmed to WCNC Charlotte that two of the killed officers were probation officers on a full-time task force with the U.S. Marshals.
