New Haven gang member admits to role in 2 homicides, shootings, federal officials say.

NEW HAVEN — A member of a violent street gang appeared in federal court Thursday and admitted to playing a role in two homicides and two shootings that occurred in the city from 2020 to 2022, according to federal officials.

Antwan Hill, 21, a member of the Exit 8 street gang, appeared before U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to engage in a pattern of racketeering activity, for which he faces up to 20 years in prison.

According to officials, since 2018, Hill and other members of the gang have killed at least 3 people and attempted to kill 16. Hill specifically admitted to taking part in four shootings that caused two deaths, officials said.

In September 2020, Hill and another gang member shot and attempted to kill a rival gang member and associate, according to officials. The following May, Hill conspired with a gang member who shot and killed a rival gang member, and then in July, he and another member killed a rival, officials said.

Hill again attempted to kill a rival in April 2022, officials said.

A sentencing date for Hill has not been scheduled yet.
