Napa man accused of stockpiling explosive materials ordered to stand trial, now facing conspiracy charge
A Napa man accused of possessing explosive materials was arrested Jan. 10 after authorities say he ordered nitric acid that was delivered to his former workplace after he had been fired, court testimony showed Thursday.
During a 90-minute preliminary hearing, Judge Scott Young ruled that Justin Fisher, 31, must stand trial, concluding there was sufficient evidence to proceed. Fisher is scheduled to return to court Feb. 10 for arraignment on two felony counts.
The hearing focused on chemicals discovered Jan. 10 at a home on Coombs Street and whether Fisher intended to use them for explosives.
“We have a lot of ingredients. We don’t have testimony showing those ingredients would be used to make an explosive device,” Fisher’s attorney, Ji-Hyn Cho, said in court.
Investigators testified that while the chemicals are legal to possess, they are commonly used in explosive devices.
