One of 3 Officers Shot in Targeted Attack in Ohio Dies
One of the three police officers who were shot on Wednesday outside Cleveland in what the authorities described as an ambush died on Thursday from his injuries, and another officer remained in critical condition.
The officer who died, Phillip Wagner, 35, was eating pizza in his patrol car at lunchtime in Lorain, Ohio, when a man with a high-powered rifle opened fire on him and another officer who was parked next to him, the authorities said.
Officers shot and killed the gunman, whom law enforcement officials identified on Thursday as Michael Parker, 28, of Lorain. The authorities said he had a cache of weapons and improvised explosive devices in his vehicle.
