New Jersey man found with possible explosives outside St. Matthew’s Cathedral in DC
A New Jersey man is facing multiple charges after police found possible explosives inside a tent he had set up on the steps of St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Northwest D.C. just hours before the annual Red Mass.
Louis Geri, 41, of Vineland, New Jersey, is facing preliminary charges of unlawful entry, threats to kidnap or injure a person, and possession of a Molotov cocktail.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, officers assigned to security for the Red Mass at the cathedral confronted Geri around 6 a.m.
Police said Gerri had previously been barred from the property, and when he refused to leave, officers took him into custody without incident.
