Sheriff’s deputies arrest man for manufacturing of explosives in Carson City
A Carson City man initially arrested for detonating a small explosive device in a parking lot now faces a host of charges, including the unlawful manufacturing of explosives, following a search of his residence.
The incident began on Saturday, October 12, when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to North Carson Street following reports of a dispute and a small explosion, described as being similar to an “M80.”
Deputies confronted Manuel Munoz (65). Munoz allegedly confessed to detonating the device and reportedly told officers he had additional “bombs” in his room, threatening to throw one at a tenant. Munoz was non-compliant with deputies, and a minor struggle occurred before he was taken into custody and treated for minor injuries, according to the Carson City Sheriff’s Depart
Initially, Munoz was booked for Possession of an Explosive Device and Obstructing a Peace Officer, with a $15,000 bond. Deputies state they also secured a firearm from the room at the time of the arrest.
