Pipe bombs discovered at northwest Colorado consignment shop
A bomb squad detonated five pipe bombs that were found at a consignment shop in northwest Colorado Tuesday.
The Craig Police Department said at around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call from the owner of Barely Spent Consignment who reported discovering “suspicious items” at their business on Ranney Street.
Police said the owner of the store suspected the items might be homemade explosives and described them as pipes with caps and fuses. When officers arrived, they confirmed that the items resembled homemade pipe bombs, according to the police department.
Police said they requested help from the Grand Junction Police Department’s bomb squad. The devices were safely transported to a secure location for detonation, according to police, at around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
