$10K bond for man accused of arson in massive fire that destroyed historic Cleveland church
A 19-year-old man was arraigned Wednesday morning in connection with the devastating fire at a historic Cleveland church, according to an arrest warrant.
John Patrick McManamon, 19, faced a judge on Wednesday morning and was arraigned on a felony arson charge, according to court records.
His bond was set at $10,000.
According to the arrest warrant, on August 20, at around 11:58 p.m., cameras caught a car driven by McManamon traveling to 5600 Central Avenue, the location of the abandoned Friendship Baptist Church.
McManamon and two friends parked on East 57th Street behind the church and entered the church to engage in a social media trend, “Urban Mining,” the warrant said.
Police said that a photo taken from inside the church and posted on social media showed the incipient stage of a fire with multiple points of origin.
