2 bodies, explosive devices found in barricaded suspect’s home

A barricaded suspect incident lead to the discovery of two bodies and multiple explosive devices inside a Stamford home on Tuesday.

Police identified the suspect as 63-year-old Jed Parkington. He was found dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities said.

Officials have not identified the second body found in the home.

The incident began at 263 Oaklawn Avenue after a State Marshal contacted 911 while attempting to execute an eviction order, according to a police statement.

The situation escalated when Parkington barricaded himself. The Stamford Police Hostage Negotiation Team arrived at 9:44 a.m. on Tuesday and tried to talk to him.

As officers approached the home, Parkington fired multiple rounds at two police cars, striking their windshields. Special Response Team commanders withdrew from the area and requested help from federal, state, and municipal law enforcement agencies.
