Savannah city building arsonist charged with impersonating officer
A Savannah man previously convicted for the 2020 arson that destroyed the City of Savannah’s Code Enforcement Office, is now facing charges for impersonating an officer on Tybee Island.
Stephen Charles Setter, 24, was arrested May 20 on Tybee Island after police said he falsely claimed to be a probation officer.
Records show Setter had been released from federal custody just two days earlier while still under supervision for the earlier arson case.
According to Tybee Island police, officers were called around 12:48 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, to the South Annex at 1509 Strand Ave. after Setter was reported to be identifying himself as a probation officer.
