Arizona man connected to deadly Australia attack gets more charges in new indictment
The Arizona man charged for inciting a “religiously-motivated terrorist attack” in Australia in late 2022 was handed a new indictment that adds three additional counts against him.
In early December 2023, 58-year-old Donald Day, Jr., was arrested by FBI agents. The federal agency aided the Queensland Police Service after six people, including two police officers, were killed in an ambush by three people. Day allegedly posted on a few foreign websites, including a UK-based sharing platform called BitChute, where he reportedly posted that he’s “an x-con (sic), who’s armed to the teeth.”
The indictment issued in late November 2023 alleges that Day “engaged in a course of conduct demonstrating a desire to incite violence and threaten a variety of groups and individuals including law enforcement and government authorities” from the beginning of 2022 until February 2023.
The three suspects in the shooting in Australia were Gareth Train, his brother Nathaniel Train and Nathanial’s wife Stacey Train. Four Queensland police officers arrived at their property on reports of a missing person. They walked into a hail of gunfire, police said at the time, and officers Rachel McCrow and Matthew Arnold and innocent bystander Alan Dare were fatally shot. Two officers managed to escape and raise the alarm. Police killed the three Trains, who have been described as conspiracy theorists, during a six-hour siege.
