Anniston man arrested after police find explosive devices, guns in vehicle

Jacksonville Police have arrested a man from Anniston for violating a protection order and possessing firearms and drugs.

Police received a call Feb. 8 from a woman who said she was possibly being followed by 37-year-old Austin Heath Church who she had a protection from abuse order against.

Officers arrested Church during a traffic stop in the parking lot of O’Reilly’s on Pelham Road South.

Multiple firearms, including rifles and pistols, multiple loaded magazines, at least one pistol containing a Glock Switch, a bullet proof vest and bullet resistant helmet were found in Church’s vehicle.

Members of Gadsden Police Department and ALEA’s bomb squad responded to the scene to evaluate and render safe the explosive devices.
