Witnesses to fatal police shooting in Arbutus area say man had bow and arrow
Baltimore County police officers fatally shot a man who was carrying a bow and arrow on streets in the Arbutus area Wednesday morning.
County police said officers were called around 10:25 a.m. to the 5100 block of Leeds Avenue for a person armed with a bow and arrow.
A resident’s doorbell camera captured video in the moments before the shooting that appears to show man wearing a mask walking on Leeds Avenue, carrying a bow and arrow.
Jim Mechlinski, a witness, told 11 News he was driving by when he noticed the man.
“I saw him with a bow, and I thought he was just carrying it down there going somewhere with it. I didn’t know if he was going to use it or not,” Mechlinski told 11 News. “I just saw it and I thought, ‘That’s weird.’ It definitely concerned me, but you see crazy stuff all the time.”
