Tennessee man charged after deputies find explosive device on his porch

A Middle Tennessee man arrested Wednesday is accused of manufacturing an explosive device.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says the device was found Wednesday morning when deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call from a man claiming to be overdosing on drugs.

Robby Basham, 53, was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. After he was transported, deputies reportedly found a PVC pipe with black wires on the front porch. It contained Tannerite and nails, the TBI said. Explosive teams were notified and the device was rendered safe.

A search of Basham’s home found more components to make similar explosive devices, according to the TBI.
