Affidavit: Man charged after I.E.D. found on Central Texas bridge threw explosive device onto neighbor’s property
A Hill County man in custody on a weapons charge is facing additional charges after authorities in Central Texas removed an improvised explosive device (IED) from a local bridge, the Hill County Sheriff’s Office said.
Michael Louis Degner, 48, of Malone, is charged with disorderly conduct, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of components of explosives, an arrest warrant affidavit states.
“Degner intentionally and knowingly possessed components of an explosive weapon with the intent to combine the components into an explosive weapon for use in a criminal endeavor,” investigators wrote in the affidavit.
Degner was arrested at about 2 p.m. on July 25 after authorities executed a warrant at his residence in the 500 block of West Hackberry Street.
