Paul Doyle changes pleas to guilty on all charges in Liverpool parade crash trial
The man who drove a vehicle into Liverpool supporters celebrating their Premier League title win has changed his pleas to guilty on all charges.
More than 130 people, ranging from a six-month-old baby to a 78-year-old woman, were injured when Paul Doyle’s Ford Galaxy ploughed into crowds who had gathered in Liverpool city centre on May 26.
On the opening day of Doyle’s trial at Liverpool Crown Court, the 54-year-old abandoned his defence and confirmed that he wanted to change his position and accept the charges against him.
Sobbing uncontrollably, Doyle went on to plead guilty to 31 offences ranging from dangerous driving and affray to wounding and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
