Threats called into multiple Tennessee schools
At least seven Tennessee school campuses were placed on lockdown Monday morning after threats were reported against the schools.
The Franklin Police Department reported that a bomb threat was called into Franklin High School and Page High School. Both schools were placed on lockdown while investigations were underway.
Franklin police determined the bomb threats were a swatting incident, which is a type of prank call often made from out of state for the purpose of causing fear and provoking a law enforcement response.
In Sevier County, Pigeon Forge Schools were temporarily placed on shutdown after a reported threat involving a possible active shooter situation at the high school. Pigeon Forge Police reported that no evidence of an immediate threat was found and the shutdown was a precaution while law enforcement investigated the report.
“The Pigeon Forge Police Department is continuing to investigate the origin of the threat. As an added precaution, officers will maintain an increased presence around school property, including tighter patrols during arrival, dismissal, and throughout the school day,” Public Information Officer Craig Cruise.
